In July 2023, Tech Transfer Inc. launched TTI Field Engineering, Inc. as a dedicated field engineering affiliate. One year into operations, it’s worth reflecting on what that expansion has meant for our clients and for the integrated engineering capability we are able to offer.
Why We Expanded
The decision to formalize field engineering operations came from a pattern we observed repeatedly over 35 years of analysis work: the gap between what an analytical model predicts and what actually happens in a specific installed system is almost always bridgeable — but bridging it requires field measurement data.
Without the ability to go to the machine, measure what is actually happening, and bring that data back into the analytical model, our recommendations were always made with some uncertainty about the as-built conditions. TTI Field Engineering closes that loop.
What TTI Field Engineering Does
TTI Field Engineering provides on-site vibration and pulsation measurement services, field troubleshooting investigations, and equipment performance diagnostics. The team brings calibrated measurement equipment and the analytical expertise to interpret what the data means in the context of the full system model.
The field and analytical capabilities operate together. Field measurements inform the analytical model; the analytical model guides where field measurements should be taken and what they mean.
Looking Ahead
The first year of TTI Field Engineering operations has confirmed what we expected: the combination of analytical and field capability is more valuable than either alone. Clients who have used both services have consistently received faster, more definitive root cause identification and more effective corrective recommendations than was possible with analysis alone.
